     ::: SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS :::

I am unable to test AWLP in various platforms, thus I cannot provide
you with a detailed system requirements at this point. However, AWLP
runs on Slackware 10.1 using the bare.i or bare.acpi kernel. So, if you
are able to install and run Slackware 10.1 as described in the 'Installation'
section, and you have a working ethernet card and a wireless LAN card with
Prism 2/2.5/3 chipset as described in the 'Hardware Compatibility' section,
you are all set.

While installing Slackware 10.1 with the tagfiles provided, it requires
a partition with 768MB space. The formula we will follow while partitioning
the swap space is between 1 and 2 times the physical RAM. So, if you have
an HDD with at least 1GB storage, you will be fine.

Keep in mind that, while installing AWLP, if you happen to choose to remove
unneeded packages, trim down documents and manuals, and strip-down the perl
package to bare minimum, the whole thing will be around 80-100MB excluding
the swap space.

Just to give you a rough idea: I had run and tested AWLP v1.0 under moderate
load for straight 58 days with no problem using the following hardware.

  • Pentium II-MMX 200 MHz
  • 32 + 16 + 16 + 16 = 80 MB RAM
  • 1.2GB IDE HDD
  • Realtek 8139D Ethernet Card
  • PCI to PCMCIA Converter with a Ricoh chipset
  • Senao 2511 CDPLUS EXT2 Wireless LAN Card
